What Does “Public Domain” Really Mean?
When a work is in the Public Domain, nobody owns it. (Rather, everybody does.) No copyright restriction applies to it.
You might hear “Public Domain” refferred to as “CC0”, “Creative Commons”, or “Creative Commons Zero.” Be sure not to confuse these terms with “Royalty Free”, or, “Free to use.”!
When a work is in the Public Domain:
- You may monetize your work free of any fees & royalties.
- You do not need permission or have to credit the creator.
- You may modify & remix the asset however you’d like.
Yes, you’re truly free! This is the copyright freedom CreatorAssets believes in.
Why Don’t More Sites Use Public Domain?
Quite frankly: money. People want to get paid “X” amount of dollars for their work, and that’s understandable!
CreatorAssets operates on a truly free model. We don’t expect any form of payment. We rely on advertisements as reimbursement for our time and expenses.
So…What’s the Catch?
There is none!
